I SENSE THE SOUTH

Like thick molasses the balmy air coats my skin.

I inhale intoxicating aromas of wisteria, magnolia, and honeysuckle.

I breath the heavy air laced with cotton seed and pollens.

Blue eyes transfix on numerous hues of greens and golds vibrant on a sultry afternoon.

Songs of the cardinal overshadowed by the mockingbird and crows resonate in my ears.

I sit in silence taking in the plethora of sight, and sound until at last I know,

I have come to sense the South.
